‘China Underground 2002-2011' is a head-spinning 90 minute jag into the DIY scene Barker was exposed to over a decade of rapid developments in a country whose artists were splicing aspects of traditional and contemporary Chinese music within emergent electronic frameworks. Sequenced with a suss that allows the music to breathe, and which best represents its spectra of feels, styles, and patterns, the tape plays out like a fever dream, unfurling from super cheery 8Bit chiptune fanfares to filigree ambient electronics, mutant dancehall, and elisions of hearty folk into breakcore on the A-side, and cycles out to screwed psych, acid flashcore, Jaw’s harp twangs, chants, and frenetic braindance on the back.' - Boomkat Review
